Hawks are the most mislabled of the raptors, often being mistaken for eagles. This also isn't helped by the bald eagle, whose famous cry actually belongs to the red-tailed hawk. Hawks are smaller and stockier than eagles, allowing them to weave through trees and other places with greater ease than an eagle would. This allows the hawk to fill a much different environmental niche than the eagle, having them be more active hunters in exchange for size. A name that is commonly used for a small hawk is "kite. Kites, however, are their own species of bird of prey that is extremely similar to the hawk.
